A Wet New Year’s Eve

No real change in the forecast, since this morning. Light rain is now moving into the state, from west to east. The rain stretches all the back into Texas: Obviously, 2009 will end, wet. The big question is, will  2010 begin with a few snow flakes?? It’s still a possibility. But as of right now, all [...]

2010 Beginning Cold

First of all, very foggy this morning, caused by surface moisture from yesterday’s rain, little wind, and mild temperatures. It will slowly clear out this morning, but we stay mostly cloudy, thanks to an unsettled upper level flow. Colder to the north of us will not arrive until late tonight, so we may have a chance to hit [...]

Radar Check

A cold, wet, winter day in Mississippi…Throw another log on the fire!

A Cold Rain

TODAY/TOMORROW: A cold rain for much of the day today. Steady light rain, moving in from Northern Louisiana this morning, and will continue to move into Mississippi, spreading from west to east. The heavy rain will stay south of Interstate 20, where more than an inch is likely, but across the rest of the state, between 1 qtr [...]

Moisture Returning

TODAY: Another cold December morning. Temperatures made it down to the upper 20s and low 30s again last night…Some quick changes ahead, as moisture heads back in. Clouds are already increasing in the mid and upper levels this morning; we should wind up cloudy later this afternoon, with temperatures holding in the mid/upper 40s. Winds [...]

2009 Ending Cold

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Sure was perfect Christmas weather over the past several days.. TODAY: A cold late December morning; most of us have dropped down into the upper 20s. We’ll warm up some today, but with a northwesterly flow blowing in from off the snow cover, we probably won’t make it [...]

Cold Air Moving In!

We were very fortunate today. The lack of surface instability prevented a major severe weather event…Now for some cold weather! Temps have already dropped into the 30s in West Louisiana. It still looks like we’ll end up dropping down to the 30 to 34 degree range by day break tomorrow. Where the temp does fall [...]
