Raining again this morning in Bolivar County, and northern Sunflower County; up to one half-inch in spots! The rest of us dry, but more storms developing later in the morning and afternoon. With the surface boundary still close by, today will be a day much like yesterday; more clouds than sun and hit and miss [...]

A few showers already in progress this morning in Bolivar County. They are very light; only registering a trace of rain at our Skycam site on the Delta State Univ campus, so far. The coverage of showers and storms increasing today as we heat up. But these are still hit and miss storms, which mean the rainfall distribution will vary. The [...]

A weak surface boundary to our north will drift south over the next 18 hours, moving into Mississippi late tonight and early tomorrow morning. Scattered showers and storms will develop in advance of the front, this afternoon and tonight. The front stalls over central Mississippi, which will enhance the coverage of showers and storms tomorrow and [...]

Clouds heading in this morning in response to a weak surface front, located north of us; we’ll call it a mix of sun and clouds today. A few thunderstorms again this afternoon; predicting where summer time pop up storms will develop is about like throwing darts at a dart board, blind folded. As usual, some spots will receive a [...]

A weak surface boundary will slide far enough south to kick off a few showers and thunderstorms today. Not the soaking rain we need, but every little bit helps. It will not storm everywhere; in fact, many spots will stay dry all day. Otherwise, a mix of sun and clouds; temperatures warming to near 95, [...]

Moisture increasing today, thanks to a southeast breeze. We also have a weakness in the upper level heat ridge, which means slightly cooler air near 18,000 feet up, allowing a few storms to develop this afternoon. The best coverage of showers and storms, will be west Hwy 61 and south of Hwy 82, for places like Greenville, Eudora, Lake [...]

The temperatures back off a little bit tomorrow, thanks to an increase in clouds and moisture, but the afternoon heat index increasing to near 105. We can’t rule out a few [...]

We sure could use some rain. During the summer, our best hope for a good soaking rain event is a tropical system moving in from the gulf. Nothing brewing yet, but conditions are prime for active tropical weather, this summer. The lack if rain, creating reason for concern; here is the latest Drought Monitor from the Climate Prediction Center, updated Tuesday Morning: [...]

We’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope we get the really hot weather over with early, this year. Pretty amazing, considering the Summer Solstice (first day of Summer) is still four days away. One thing is for sure, our warmer than normal spring does not necessarily mean, a warmer than average summer. We don’t want to stir up a hornet’s [...]
