Morning Sun… PM Storms

Temperatures running 5 to 8 degrees cooler early this morning, compared to yesterday, mainly due to the storms that moves thorough last night. A good supply of sunshine through lunch time, then puffy white cumulus clouds begin developing, which is sometimes a precursor for thunderstorms. That will be the case today; looks like storms begin firing after 3 o’clock. [...]

Hot; A Few pm Storms

A few more clouds today, than yesterday, keeping us a degree or two cooler; but we still make it to near 94 with heat index values between 100 and 103, during the afternoon. A disturbance passing to our north should provide sufficient cool air aloft for a few thunderstorms to develop, which will provide some temporary relief from the [...]

Roasty Toasty!

The official start of summer is still several days away, but does the calendar really matter with temps this warm?? Hot is the word again today, then the heat will back down a few degrees for the rest of the week… We make it to the mid 90s this afternoon; most of us remain in the 93 to 96 [...]

A band of light rain, moving through this morning, from west to east; fortunately no storms or flash flooding to worry about. The rain moves out by lunch time, then breezy, and a mix of sun and clouds this afternoon; temperatures approaching 94 with heat index values near 100! The heat is on, this weekend. Model guidance suggesting [...]

More PM Storms

We stay unsettled today; more clouds than sun this morning with periods of light rain showers; a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon. Thunderstorms develop again after 2 o’clock…More showers later tonight and tomorrow morning, then improving weather in time for the weekend, but hot;  the question is, how hot? Forecast model guidance is [...]

Rain/Storms Moving In

A batch of rain with embeded storms moving across the Miss River. Isolated areas of Flash flooding likely for the next few hours, especially west of Hwy 49W

Unsettled

Showers and storms increasing in coverage, for today and Thursday. A weak surface boundary is sliding in from the north, and an upper level disturbance is approaching from our southwest;. I know we throw out a lot of meteorology terms, here, and need to do a better job of explaining them. So, in other terms, we have a slight [...]

Warmer

A good supply of sunshine today, with afternoon temps warming to the mid 90s, near 93…It’s time to start about the good ole Heat Index, again, which indicates how warm you actually feel, as a result of moisture and heat; heat index values approach the upper 90s this afternoon, then back off a bit tomorrow, due [...]

Not As Humid

A brief decrease in the humidity levels today, thanks to an easterly wind at the surface and a northwesterly flow aloft. Northwesterly flows can be tricky this time of year; it allows storm complexes to slip in from the northwest. A complex is moving out of if Oklahoma into nw Arkansas this morning, but the [...]
