Words We’ve All Been Waiting For… Fall-Like!!

Are the hot, muggy “dog days” of summer finally over?? Noooo, it is only early September after all… But, some well deserved relief over the weekend; it’s certainly safe to say, “Fall-Like”. And, what perfect timing, with the college football season kicking off tomorrow; hard to beat fall weather and Alaba.. oops, cough cough, uhhh I mean Ole Miss and Miss State football games. I Better move on before I get myself in even more trouble…

For today, more clouds than sun, through early afternoon, along with a few widely scattered rain showers or thunderstorms. Then cooler, drier air begins moving in by sunset tonight. Any shower that does develop should be out of here in time for the high school football games. We cool down to the mid 50s by sunrise tomorrow morning! Perfect weather during the day, Saturday; lots of sunshine, low humidity, with afternoon temperatures in the mid 80s.

If you’re going to the football games tomorrow… For Ole Miss, the 2:30 kick off temperature in Oxford, only 82 degrees! A night game in Starkville for Miss State; 80 degrees at the 6:00 kick-off, then falling to the upper 60s by the end of the game… If you “accidentally” miss the Starkville exit on Hwy 82, and wind up in Tuscaloosa for the Alabama game… 79 degrees at 6:00 kickoff… For Labor Day, back into the low 90s , with a good supply of sunshine.

Earl has weakened to a category 1 storm; sustained winds are down to 85 mph. Fortunately, the hurricane force winds have remained off shore near the center of the storm; the 10:00 advisory from the National Hurricane Center is located in the previous post… Fiona remains a tropical storm, and is no threat to the U.S. The remnants of Gaston still out in the Atlantic, along with another wave off the West off of Africa; hurricane season is not over…. Have a great weekend!
