Hot Days Ahead!

The Summer heat is on! We warm to the 96 to 98 degree range this afternoon, with a heat index near 108; you can’t rule out a stray storm, but most of stay clear and dry. This weekend, afternoon temperatures reach the 98 to 100 degree range, with lots of sunshine; the heat index, approaching 110, [...]

A Few Storms; then Hot!

The coverage of storms, decreasing, and temperatures increasing. A good supply of sunshine this morning, then a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon, with scattered storms developing. We warm to 92, but this is the last day of the low 90s for a while; mid 90s tomorrow, then upper 90s to near 100 [...]

Warm, Muggy, & Unsettled; Weekend Heat!

Not a lot of change today, compared to Tuesday. We’re still in a tropical-like air mass; dew points are running in the mid 70s and precipitable water values are close to 2.25 inches. We expect showers to increase from southwest to northeast this morning. Already a few light showers popping up near Tchula, Belzoni, Rolling Fork, with more developing back in [...]

More Scattered Storms

We stay unsettled today, with another round of showers and storms developing later this morning through the afternoon; this will be a day very similar to yesterday. The clouds will hold temperatures down, again this afternoon to the low 90s. Precipitable water values are running over 2 inches today, which means the air is very moist, [...]

Warm & Unsettled

Moisture remaining from what was a Tropical Depression Bonnie, will stick around for the next couple days. For today and Tuesday, we are not expecting wide spread rain and storms that will last all day. We do have sufficient moisture in place for a good coverage of hit and miss type storms beginning later this morning, through the afternoon, then again [...]

Watching Bonnie

First of all, dry and hot again today; almost a carbon copy of yesterday, with afternoon temperatures warming to the upper 90s and heat index values near 105. Saturday looks like a transition day; we stay clear through lunch time, then clouds increase throughout the afternoon, as moisture associated with Bonnie moves in from the southeast… The morning advisory [...]

Hot & Dry!

We had a some help from the clouds yesterday in keeping temperatures a little cooler than expected; we reached the mid 90s rather than the upper 90s. Not as lucky today; with drier air overhead, fewer clouds are expected , which means we warm quickly. We’re forecasting 98, as an average temperature with heat index values holding near 105 throughout the [...]

Steamy!!

Just down right hot for the next several days! Between 97 and 100 each afternoon through Friday with heat index values approaching 105. No doubt, this type of heat is something to take seriously, especially for the elderly, and those without an adequate source for staying cool, but I am always amazed at the hype over hot summer time weather. Sure, our afternoon temperatures are running between [...]

Hot Days Ahead!

Lots of sunshine today, as the air warms aloft, limiting the formation of clouds and storms. We’re still going to mention the possibility of a shower or storm after lunch time, for points along Hwy 49E over to I-55. The higher soil moisture values are located in that area, which may supply enough of a spark for a [...]

Some Clouds; then Warmer

We’ve got some clouds around this morning. A mix of sun and clouds from mid morning through the afternoon; the clouds will hold temperatures down to near 93.  A passing shower or storm is possible, but most of us stay dry. In fact, the possibility of any rain through the end of the week is not good. The heat is [...]
