Weekend Rain

Clouds increasing today in advance of a storm system. More clouds than sun by afternoon, but temperatures still reach the low/mid 80′s this PM… Still expecting periods of rain along with a few embedded storms this weekend. Fortunately, this is not a severe weather set-up, but certainly not a good weekend for outdoor plans due to the rain.

Rain ends by the beginning of next week, followed by a warming trend… Have a great weekend!

Noticeably cooler this morning! Most spots starting out in the mid & low 50s, but warming quickly after sunrise. Afternoon temperatures reach the 79 to 82 degree range thanks to a full supply of May sunshine.

Moisture returns this weekend as a storm system develops along the Gulf of Mexico. Periods of rain with a few embedded storms Saturday and Sunday. The rain ends early next week, then a warming trend begins… Have a great Thursday!

Periods of Rain

Periods of rain/storms through Wednesday morning; the better coverage will remain south of Hwy 82, but even there severe storms are not likely. Otherwise, warming to the low 80s this afternoon.

Monday Storms

Storms increasing in coverage and intensity this morning through the afternoon. While the primary upper level disturbance and associated surface low will pass far north of us, we can’t rule out a few strong to severe storms capable of producing damaging straight line wind and large hail.

Additional showers and storms Tuesday, followed by a shot a noticeably cooler and drier air for the second half of the week… Have a great Monday!

Weekend Steam!

ABC 6 Weather — Fri, 04 May 2012 11:18:26 +0000

Intervals of sun and clouds this morning, then a good supply of Sunshine by afternoon. Today, possibly the warmest so far this year; near record highs possible! We’re forecasting a high of 90, which would be the 1st recorded 90 degree day in Greenville since September 22nd, and Greenwood since September 13th! The record high for today is 90 in Greenwood (set in 1955), and 92 in Greenville (set in 1943).

The heat continues through the weekend; afternoon temperatures in the 89 to 92 degree range both Saturday and Sunday.

The large scale pattern begins to change early next week. Rain and storms return Monday and Tuesday followed by a shot a noticeably cooler air. Believe it or not, below normal temperatures are possible by the middle and end of next week!… Have a great weekend!

Thursday Morning Clouds; Weekend Heat

Clouds this morning, then partial clearing this afternoon. A few sprinkles are possible early, but the main area of rain/storms has moved East of I-55. The clouds will hold temperatures in the mid 80s this afternoon, but we’re still expecting upper 80s to near 90 Friday through the weekend.

The large scale pattern begins to change next week. Rain/storms return, followed by a change to more seasonal temperatures… Have a great Thursday!

Clouds increasing this morning as moisture returns… Scattered showers and storms develop this afternoon, mainly South of Hwy 82. A second round during day Thursday for points along and East of I-55.

Hot Through the Weekend

Today very similar to yesterday. Warming to the upper 80s under a mix of sun and clouds. Still expecting a few scattered showers and storms late Wednesday and Thursday, but the better coverage should remain south of I-20.

Some of the longer range indices indicating the pattern could change toward the middle of May. For those who are meteorologically inclined, the AO and NAO are forecast to flip negative. In general, that would mean a greater risk for strong to severe storms across the Southeast, followed by much cooler conditions. Still too early to get specific, but the idea is on the table. In the mean time, unseasonably warm!… Have a great Tuesday!
